Lore is available in two forms: a mobile app and a web reader. A consent form (UMP) is shown in the mobile app; a consent banner may be displayed in the web reader. This page describes the data processed in each version.
Mobile app
The Lore phone app shows a feed of cultural cards and ads via Google AdMob.
Data collected (mobile app)
- Reports — if a card is reported, Lore stores the card identifier, the chosen reason and, if provided, a comment (Firebase Firestore).
- Seen cards — mobile app only: the list of already viewed cards is stored locally on the phone so the feed can resume. It is not sent to Lore or to AdMob.
- Favorites — cards marked with a heart are stored only on the phone. They are not sent to Lore or to AdMob.
- Ads (AdMob) — see the section below.
Ads in the app (AdMob)
To display the advertising banner on your phone, AdMob receives limited technical data, for example screen size, language, and country or region inferred from the IP address. GPS is not used. Card text, favorites and the list of cards already seen are not sent to AdMob.
AdMob may also use the phone’s advertising identifier: the IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) on iOS or the GAID (Google Advertising ID) on Android. It may be used in particular to show ads based on the other kinds of apps installed on the phone.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, AdMob must obtain your consent before using this identifier. If you allow it, AdMob may use it for those ads. If you refuse, the identifier is not used: the banner is shown from the limited technical data only. You can change this choice later in the phone settings. On iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
In addition, AdMob may receive, in order to display and measure ads: screen resolution and display density, device model, operating system version, and ad interactions (impressions, clicks).
Google privacy policy and AdMob user data.
Web reader
The web reader (culture-lore.com/read/) lets you browse the same card feed in a browser. Ads there are served via Google AdSense.
Data collected (web reader)
- Reports — same approach as the mobile app (card identifier, reason, optional comment).
- Topic filter — the selected topic may be remembered in the browser (sessionStorage) for the visit.
- Ad consent — the choice to accept or decline ads may be stored locally (localStorage).
-
Ads (AdSense) — Google AdSense may collect,
in particular to display and measure ads:
- cookies and similar technologies;
- IP address (approximate location);
- browser type, version and language;
- device type, screen size and resolution;
- pages viewed and ad interactions.
Android tester program
On the app page, you can leave your email address to join the Android tester version. This email is stored (Firebase) and sent to Lore only to add you as a tester and notify you. It is not used for a Lore account or for advertising.
Data not collected
Lore does not ask for a user account, name, email address or precise location to use the main feed, whether in the mobile app or the web reader. Email is requested only if you choose to become an Android tester.
